Well, apart from our brilliant team, standard of client care and high retention/repeat business rate, we prefer not to use hourly rates to charge our clients, not just because it petrifies clients and creates the impression of that we are always “on the clock” which can be seen as “expensive”
Someone once said (and I paraphrase) “Please don’t charge me between £150 to £350 an hour to read through my papers and then have someone junior carry out the work at your rate. Professional service firms are not going to maintain their client base if they treat their clients on a transactional basis. Treat them as a relationship, not as a transaction!”
We like the idea of being in a relationship with our clients, so we prefer to hear them out, assess what work needs to be done and then agree a fee with the client – upfront. That way, the client knows exactly how much they’re going to pay for our services.
Don’t get us wrong: we do have the option of hourly rates – and some of our clients prefer that – but we give them the option to opt for one or the other and they seem to like that – and the fact that we offer a free one hour consultation.
